The role of surge protectors is that they can quickly discharge a large amount of lightning current and control lightning overvoltage within a safe range in a short time. When the power network is in normal working condition, the surge protector is in a high resistance state, so it will not affect the power network in normal working condition. Once the system generates overvoltage (including but not limited to lightning overvoltage), it will show a low resistance state, and then a large amount of lightning current will be discharged to our grounding device through the surge protector, thereby reducing the impact of lightning to a level acceptable to the power system, and ultimately protecting our lives and property.
