In our lives, many different power supply systems have been derived according to different power usage occasions. In addition to the common single-phase system, the power supply system also has a three-phase system. The power supply system is divided into TN-C, TN-S, TN-C-S, TT and IT systems according to the design of the neutral wire and ground wire. So how is the surge protector wired in different power supply systems? Today, the editor will take you to learn about the wiring diagram of the surge protection device in detail.

Before understanding the wiring diagram of the surge protective device, we need to first understand the types of three-phase power supply systems. The TN system is a more common power supply system in life, which is further subdivided into TN-C, TN-S, and TN-C-S systems. In the TN-C system, the neutral wire and the ground wire are combined into a "PEN" wire; in the TN-S system, the neutral wire and the ground wire are two separate wires; the TN-C-S system merges the two systems, half of which is the TN-C system and half of which is the TN-S system. In addition to the TN system, there is also the TT system. In the TT system, there is only one neutral wire, and the rest is directly grounded without a ground wire. The IT system simplifies the N line into a grounding resistor, and the rest is directly grounded, with neither a neutral line nor a ground line. Before designing the wiring diagram of the surge protector, we should first confirm the type of power system.

Wiring diagram of the surge protector. After confirming the type of power system, we should determine the wiring method of the surge protector. Surge protectors are divided into 4P common mode protection and 3PN full mode protection according to the type of protection. Among them, 4P common mode protection refers to connecting a surge protector to each of the three phase lines and one neutral line, and the ground line is directly grounded. This connection method can provide common mode protection against lightning. 3PN full mode protection is to connect a surge protector to each of the three phase lines, and connect another surge protector in parallel on the main line of the three phase lines. 3PN can provide differential mode protection while providing common mode protection, which is safer.
