Domestic surge protectors are divided into 3 types: switch type, voltage limiting type, and composite type. Their differences are as follows:
Switch type surge protectors are composed of gap devices, with large flow rate, but the disadvantage is that there is continuous current, which is easy to arc, and is not suitable for flour mills.
The voltage limiting surge protector uses varistor as the main core device. Its characteristics are easy aging and leakage current. If it is not properly maintained, it is easy to catch fire, so it is not suitable for flour mills.
The composite surge protector is the most advanced technology in the lightning protection industry. It is composed of gaps and varistor in series. There is no continuous current and leakage current, a sealed structure, and no external arc when it is in action. It is suitable for use in flammable and explosive places.
